£10,000 Make It Happen Awards

The winners receiving their awards from the owner and manager of Peterborough United FC, Barry Fry and Clive Thomas from Combined Insurance

Peterborough Launch

Combined Insurance teamed up with the Peterborough Evening Telegraph to launch the superb Make It Happen award scheme in Peterborough.

The Community Awards programme, called “Make it Happen”, gave away a share of a £10,000 prize pool to people, groups and charities who wanted to benefit the community in the Peterborough area.

Later in the year, a panel of judges decided which of the awards entries were most beneficial to the community and most deserving of the cash, then award winners were invited to a special awards ceremony.

Peterborough Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony took place on Monday 27th September 2004 and 21 community groups across Peterborough saw their dreams come true, as the Make It Happen scheme shared out £10,000 in an emotional ceremony held at Peterborough's Marriott Hotel.

Each group was presented with their prize of up to £1500 each along with a commemorative plaque by manager of Peterborough United FC, Barry Fry and Senior Regional Manager, Alwyn Hill from Combined Insurance.

During the evening every group member made their way to centre stage for a presentation and picture with Barry Fry, Evening Telegraph editor Rebecca Stephens and Clive Thomas.

Whoops of joy and thunderous applause erupted as the never-to-be-forgotten night drew to a close and everyone went home happy.
